Computer data storage often called as storage is a technology consisted of computer components and recording media to retain digital memory. The central processing unit (CPU) of a computer manipulates the data by performing computations. All computers use a storage hierarchy which place higher priority to smaller and faster storage next to the CPU while lowering the priorities to bigger and slower storage. There is a total of four different types of storage hierarchy: Primary storage, secondary storage, tertiary storage and off-line storage. But, for this post I will discussing about the secondary storage, magnetic storage and optical storage.
